The Churnet Valley boasts its own steam railway and there is a wonderful array of attractions within 10 miles including Alton Towers, canal boat trips for a pleasantly tranquil way to explore the landscape, and Trentham Estate, with high wire treetop adventure and unique walk through the Monkey Forest. Waterworld and pottery museums in Hanley, Ashbourne’s famous market and interesting vintage shops, beautiful Dovedale and cycle hire for exploring the Manifold walking and cycling Trail are all only a few miles away whilst Sudbury Hall and Little Moreton Hall (both NT), Chatsworth House, Bakewell and the Heights of Abraham cable cars at Matlock Bath are under an hour’s drive. Pay and play golf is 1 mile. There are three pubs just half a mile away, and restaurants, takeaways and shops in Cheadle, 3 miles.

Reviews
The Long Barn is a very well-equipped, high standard cottage with plenty of space and facilities for large groups. The location in terms of views of the countryside is stunning and the owner is very helpful whilst still respecting the guests' privacy. The hot tub is a very welcome addition. We would have loved to have stayed longer and would happily come back again and recommend to anyone.

Long famous for its potteries and its beer, Staffordshire also lays claim to not one but two of England’s most popular visitor attractions. All the more reason to take a break in one of our holiday cottages in Staffordshire.
Staffordshire’s largest city is Stoke-on-Trent, also known as The Potteries. This has been the centre of Britain’s ceramic industry for centuries, and the home of such famous names as Wedgwood and Royal Doulton. If you’re a fan of good English ale, then our Staffordshire cottage holidays are the ideal opportunity for a visit to Burton-on-Trent, where the unique quality of the water gave rise to the town’s brewing heritage.
But it’s not all industry in Staffordshire. You can enjoy some lovely countryside in the Peak District, Cannock Chase and the Staffordshire Moorlands – great for walking and wildlife enthusiasts. And then there is Alton Towers, one of the UK’s premier visitor attractions with a truly scary selection of rollercoasters, as well as Drayton Manor, which has some exciting white knuckle rides of its own. The small city of Lichfield, which still retains its old world charm is also well worth a visit.
